100 Days and Counting

by: Jeff

It seems like the Extra Point Show is slowly getting itself back in shape as we head into the summer months. I tell all of our friends and followers that we WILL be putting up podcasts sooner than later, but in the meantime, you will have to settle for the written word, and not the audible noise Danny and I call podcasting.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekends and took some time to think about all the millions of service men and women that allow us to write silly articles about our favorite sports teams and talk about stupid stuff like that.

However, if not one talked about stupid stuff like sports, then there wouldn't be ESPN, Sports Illustrated, the Sporting News, NFL Network, The EXTRA POINT SHOW...I think you get the picture. So, with that being said, we are now 100 days away from the NFL season kicking off with the Cowboys traveling to Metlife Stadium in New Jersey to play the defending Superbowl Champion, New York Giants.
I shouldn't be amazed, but I still am when the NBA is in their conference playoffs, the NHL is getting ready for its Finals, and MLB is in full swing as nearly every team has already played 50 games, but when something happens in the world of football...it gets top billing. People are already speculating about the first game 100 days away and whether Eli Manning will have Hakeem Nicks available after breaking his foot in OTAs the past week. Vegas has already skewed its line due to the injury and we are 100 DAYS AWAY!!!

Even though the baseball team I follow is respectable at this point in the season, I can't help but think about football on the horizon. I tell all you fans out there...don't fight it, but embrace it. Enjoy watching the top 100 players of 2012 on the NFL Network. Watch the division specials on NFL Live on ESPN (I already watchted the AFC North edition). Watch the Football Life regardless of who the focus is on because they are phenomenal (everyone from Kurt Warner to Walter Payton...it doesn't matter). Enjoy the best sport in the land because it will be gone before you know it. More importantly, enjoy this part of the year when every single NFL team's camp is beaming with enthusiasm and hope for the upcoming season.
If anything, you should dread the start of the season when you realize that your favorite team just isn't up to snuff, and you have to suffer through the grueling 16 game schedule. Enjoy every part of the NFL regardless of what others might say, because if you love it as much as I do, then you can't wait to start setting your fantasy football draft board, getting friends/family involved in the annual pick 'em league, and looking into that new jersey that you've had your eye on for a while now.

The season is coming...only 100 days away...let the countdown begin!
